The world is one of the first Disney-based worlds that is unlocked in the game, after Sora clears Hollow Bastion for the first time. It is also one of two Disney worlds based AND referred to after a real-life location, the other being Port Royal.

The Land of Dragons Characters:

Fa Mulan:

Fa Mulan is a young woman from the Land of Dragons who is a party member in Kingdom Hearts II. Determined to bring honour to her family, particularly her ill father, Mulan cuts her hair, steals her father's armour and impersonates as a soldier named Ping to join the army to defeat Shan Yu. Mulan is a generally weak fighter to begin with, but eventually becomes a skilled swordsmaiden.

Ming-Na reprises her role as Mulan. Though neither she nor Princess Jasmine sang in their Kingdom Hearts appearances, they both have the same singing voice actor in their original movies, Filipino singer Lea Salonga of Miss Saigon fame.

Mushu:

Mushu is a recurring character and Summon in the Kingdom Hearts series. He first appeared in the Disney film Mulan. In Kingdom Hearts, Mushu survived the destruction of his world, The Land of Dragons and became a Summon Gem. After the death of Maleficent in her Dragon form, the Fireglow Gem is left behind. When delivered to the Fairy Godmother, she restores his spirit and allows Sora to call forth Mushu in battle. Mushu is one of the strongest of the Summons, capable of continously shooting fireballs from his mouth. He returns to his world when it is restored at the end of Kingdom Hearts.

Mushu returns in Kingdom Hearts II but not as a Summon. He is Mulan's guardian in the Land of Dragons, one of the first worlds Sora, Donald and Goofy visit. Mushu is mistook for a Heartless at first due to his giant shadow cast on a rock. He is shocked to see his old friends in his world and introduces Mulan to them and explains her situation. Mushu's attempts to teach Mulan to act like a soldier aren't very good, making her walk oddly and even contributing to a brawl starting. Later, he then tells Mulan that he saw Shan-Yu in a cave which turns out to be empty except for Heartless.

Mushu accompanies Mulan, Sora and the others to the icy mountains when they are attacked by Shan Yu and his army of Heartless. Mulan sees a way to defeat the army by causing an avalanche. She grabs a missile, lights it with Mushu and then launches it to a nearby mountain, Mushu accidentally going with it. He later returns and accidentally gives Mulan's identity away to Captain Shang who leaves her behind. Mushu dreads returning to face his fellow spirits, but knows he must. Shan Yu and a few Heartless reveal to have survived the avalanche and head for the Imperial City to capture the Emperor. The heroes race to save the Emperor and defeat Shan Yu. Mushu blurts out to the group unintentionally he is actually not a guardian anymore and is chased by Sora and Donald in a fit of rage.

Mushu returns during Sora's second visit to help battle the Storm Rider Heartless.

Although he is not used directly as an ally, Mushu is used in the last stage of Mulan's Limit move, launching a series of fiery attacks at foes which ends with a downpour of large fireballs

The Emperor is the ruler of The Land of Dragons. Though not powerful by skills, he is wise beyond imagination, and his role to maintain order and peace is very important. He was voiced by Pat Morita, which proved to be his last role before passing away.

Li Shang serves him as his royal protector.

Mulan (1998)

The Emperor rules China with wisdom that's said to be as vast as the ocean, and with a resolve that's as unshakable as a mountain.

He is deeply grateful to Mulan and Captain Shang for saving China from the Huns.

Yao:

Yao is one of three aspiring warriors who joined the Imperial army, the other two being Chien Po and Ling. He is the shortest, both in stature and temper, among the three.

When Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Mulan attempt to join the army, Sora is attempting to get in line when Yao cuts in front of him. When Sora objects, Yao punches him in the face, which leads to a massive brawl between himself, Sora, Donald, Ling, and Chien Po, which Goofy attempts to break up and Mulan succeeds in breaking up. While he disliked Sora and co. at first, he softened his attitude towards them after they saved China from Shan-Yu and the Heartless.

*( Yao's name means "one" (the number) in Mandarin Chinese.)

Ling:

Ling is one of three aspiring warriors who joined the Imperial Army, the other two being Chien Po and Yao.

He and Yao shared a dislike for Sora, Mulan, Donald and Goofy, but he eventually changed his mind after they saved the country from Shan-Yu and his army of Heartless.

During the credits, Ling is shown spying on Mulan and Li Shang along with Yao and Chien Po, but the three are discovered when they fall down, alerting the Captain and, most likely, earning them punishment.

( Ling's name means "zero" in Mandarin Chinese. )

Chien Po:

The big, but gentle Chien Po is one of three aspiring warriors who joined the Imperial army, the other two being Ling and Yao.

Chien Po has shown to be rather...lacking...in the brains department, as he remains unaware of the fight between Sora, Donald, Ling, and Yao, only asking aloud, "I wonder what they're serving for lunch today?", to which Yao replies, "Knuckle sandwiches!" He would rather sit and have a good meal than worry about the fights that are happening around him, hence his stature and attitude.

During the credits, Chien Po and the others are seen spying on Mulan and Li Shang, who are about to kiss when they are interrupted by the three toppling over.

 Shan-Yu:

Shan-Yu appears in Kingdom Hearts II as the main antagonist of The Land of Dragons. Instead of Huns, he possesses an army of Heartless at his command. The story follows the movie for the most part, except the shadow of the Heartless has possessed him.

After surviving the avalanche as in the movie, He attacks the Imperial palace (though this time, there is no celebration), but is defeated by Sora, Donald, Goofy and Fa Mulan in a climatic boss battle. After you beat him, you receive the Hidden Dragon keyblade. Shan-Yu is the leader of the Hun army, and plans to attack and take over China (The Land of Dragons). He is large and burly, and wields a blade with zigzag shaped edges. His eyes and ears over China is his pet falcon, Hayabusa. Hayabusa appears as an ominous warning to others that Shan-Yu and his army are approaching.

The Falcon's name is Hayabusa.

Hayabusa is the eyes and ears of Shan-Yu over all of China. He also serves as a warning and a trade-mark of Shan-Yu, showing up everytime the Hun army attacks an area. Shan-Yu seems to have a connection with Hayabusa, and seems to be able to understand him.

In Kingdom Hearts II, Hayabusa is normally seen in cut-scenes with Shan-Yu. At the boss battle against Shan-Yu, he fights along side Shan-Yu. His only attack was a diving peck. His fate is not cinematically shown, but he probably died with Shan-Yu.
